Community Service

These sessions I do just for the heck of it and/or as part of my Community Expert requirement.

    • Flex Development Primer (Recording)
The Flex Dev Primer is a pure development session (don’t expect theory and graphics although you might get some) focused on helping non-flex developers ramp up to become comfortable with Flex in a short period of time. We will focus on Flex 3/Halo but will spend the last while discussing the shift in Flex 4/Spark.July 13, 2009

User Group Meetings

  • 2011
    • Zero to Sixty w/ CFWheels (Recording)
This was an online preso given to the Arizona ColdFusion Users Group. All code was live code (that’s the point) so there were a few blunders here/there but overall the preso went well.February 23, 2011
  • 2010
    • Flex 4 Launch Party
I flew to Arizona to speak for the Flash Platform Users Group of Arizona. It was an amazing time hanging w/ old friends, family, and fellow geeks. We had a blast and, as always, they had to pull me off the stage before I went on all night. 🙂
  • 2009
    • Introduction to Mate (PowerPoint | Code | Recording)
Mate is an amazing Flex framework. This presentation showcases the basics of Mate. There are MUCH deeper levels to go but the introductory talk is what was requested by the Great Lakes Developers user group.
  • 2008
    • Command Pattern in 10 Minutes (Code | Sample App)
We had already finished the preso (show-n-tell kind of night) and someone asked a question which prompted the discussion of the Command Pattern. We had roughly 10 minutes left so I opened up Flex Builder and went to work.
