Free “Training” – What do you want to learn?

I’m going to start my “community service” by doing a series of presentations (via Adobe Connect). They will range from quick (15 minutes) to long (1 hour) and will cover a range of topics. I’m open to talk about a wide array of topics but I would like to know what you want to see.

Along with the above preso’s I’ll be doing a preso for AZCFUG one of these upcoming months. The talk will be over Flex+LCDS+CF. More info about that later.

BTW, all sessions will be recorded and I’ll add them to my Preso’s page once they are completed.

So, post a comment below and I’ll compile a list and pick/choose to create a schedule.

Thanks.

How about a ‘Flex for .NET Developers’?

I’d LOVE to do that. On the list! ;-)

I second the Flex for .Net Dev’s

Mebbe an actionscript series for those-making-the-bold-transition-to-as3-and-flex.

So what are you transitioning from? Flash/AS2? Flash/AS3?

  • Leo Morales

I’d also like to learn more about air and flashlite as well. I’m a php guy so a series on actionscript/flash/flex for php would be cool too.

I would like to learn more about Classes and how they work, how to get information from one to the next in a large application.

I’d also like to see something on the transition/advantages of Flex over Flash/AS3.

    Thanks, John!

Excellent. I will add that to the list.

John: I would like to know a bit more about CDNs and how they work – specifically, the interfaces they provide to customers for caching, and user/performance metrics. Are you planning such a training session?

Unfortunately I can’t explain the internals of any of the CDN’s due to NDA. The publicly available info is all I can discuss.

In a nutshell, the FMS video streaming is using an edge-origin setup. Think of the edge as a computer somewhere in the world close to you. You attempt to stream an on-demand video and you will hit the edge server first. If the video isn’t there it keeps checking servers between itself and the origin. Once it finds the video (either another edge on the way to the origin or on the origin) it will play the video. Each CDN uses their own caching technique so I can’t speak on how the edge knows when and what to cache. I hope that helps.

As for training on this, it would have to be how to write AS3 code to connect to FMS on a CDN. I’d defer this one though because I have a video package which, once released, I would do videos, etc on how to implement it.

      Thanks Gregory!
